FIREFIGHTERS worked throughout the night to put out a blaze in a Westerleigh barn.
Avon Fire and Rescue were called to the fire which started in a three-bay Dutch-style barn on Codrington Road at about 9.30pm last night.
It contained about 200 tonnes of hay, straw and bailed silage.
At least three fire crews were present at all times containing the fire, including crews from Yate and Kingswood.
At one point, a local farmer helped by moving silage away from the barn to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby trees or property.
Avon Fire and Rescue spokesman James Bladon said the barn and its contents were completely destroyed and at 7.45am this morning, one crew remained at the scene to monitor the fire.
The cause is unknown.
